How to Do Your CE’s (Continuing Education) Hours for Pharmacists in 30 Days

Spread the love

CE’s, also known as continuing education, are hours required to maintain and renew your already hard-earned pharmacist license. Usually the hours are earned via online courses/modules or in-person trainings or presentations. Luckily, renewal usually happens every 2 years, but all that time in between can sneak up on us.

The CE hours required may vary by state, but 30 hours is what is commonly seen. A certain amount of those 30 hours may be required to be in something specific, such as law, opioid usage, immunizations, etc…

Usually your first 2 years of being a pharmacist doesn’t require the full 30 hours or any hours of CE to renew your license, but please verify with your state board!

If completing CE credits for your license renewal was the last thing on your mind until now, then let me help schedule it into your life.

Pro tip: most modules don’t actually take 1 full hour. 30-45 minutes is more the average.

If you have about 1 month left until renewal month, try sticking to this schedule to get your 30 hours in. You can adjust to your needs.

For example: If your pharmacist license expires 10/31/20 but you would like to renew before October even comes, here’s one possible way to prepare and take action for September.

I do my CE hours through Pharmacist Letter’s provided by my employment. However, there are other options, such as ASHP, APhA, or through other pharmacy organizations.

Let me know what you use to do your CE’s down below in the comments.
